How to Pick a Fantasy Captain

The captain earns double points and the vice-captain 1.5x in most formats, so this single decision swings more points than any other. Start from role: players who score in several ways (an all-rounder in cricket, a playmaking midfielder in football) have a higher floor.

Check the matchup, not the name

Look at the opposition's weakest area. A raider facing a team with a low tackle rate, or a batter facing a bowling attack with a poor economy, has a clear edge.

Use recent form, then ownership

Form score shows who is producing now. If two options are close, the lower-owned choice gives more upside in large contests, while the higher-owned choice protects you in small head-to-head contests.

Confirm the lineup before lock

Never lock a captain before the playing XI or starting lineup is confirmed.
